Parag Jain Appointed as New RAW Chief

On 29thJune 2025, the Government of India appointed senior IPS officer Parag Jain as the next chief of the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), with effect from July 1.
- Parag Jain, a 1989-batch Indian Police Service officer from the Punjab cadre, will serve a fixed two-year term as the head of India’s premier external intelligence agency.
- He replaces outgoing RAW chief Ravi Sinha, whose tenure concludes on June 30 after overseeing key intelligence operations during his time in office.
- Widely respected in intelligence circles, Jain is known for his ability to integrate human intelligence (HUMINT) with technical intelligence (TECHINT), creating a hybrid model of operations.
- His operational leadership in high-stakes missions has earned him a reputation as a ‘super sleuth’ with strategic clarity and executional precision.
- One of his most notable achievements was in Operation Sindoor, where intelligence under his direction enabled targeted missile strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
