India Reaffirms Support for UN Future Pact

On 17th July 2025, India reiterated its strong commitment to the Pact for the Future and its key annexes during the third informal dialogue among UN member states to review progress on the agreement.

  • Speaking at the session, India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, P. Harish, emphasized that the Pact is a crucial mechanism to address both current and emerging global challenges through inclusive international cooperation.
  • He underlined the need for the 2028 review of the Pact to be results-driven, with clear objectives, measurable timelines, and actionable outcomes to ensure accountability and progress.
  • India called for urgent action on long-pending reforms, particularly expanding the UN Security Council to reflect contemporary geopolitical realities and improve its effectiveness and legitimacy.
