  • 30 Jul 2025

On 29th July 2025, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted user evaluation trials of the indigenous ‘Pralay’ missile system from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the Odisha coast, in collaboration with the Indian Armed Forces.

Key Points

  • Dual-Day Trials: Tests were conducted over two consecutive days to validate both minimum and maximum range capabilities of the missile system.
  • Precision Strike: The missile followed its planned trajectory and accurately hit the designated targets, meeting all mission objectives.
  • Advanced Weapon System: ‘Pralay’ is a solid propellant, surface-to-surface missile capable of carrying various types of warheads and engaging diverse target profiles.
  • Indigenous Development: The system was developed by multiple DRDO labs — including RCI, DRDL, and ASL — in partnership with Bharat Dynamics Limited, Bharat Electronics Limited, and several MSMEs.
  • Robust Tracking: Test data were collected using a wide network of sensors and ship-based tracking systems positioned near the impact zone.
