Rs. 6520 Cr Approved for Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana

On 31st July 2025, the Union Cabinet approved a total outlay of Rs. 6,520 crore for the ongoing Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY) during the 15th Finance Commission cycle (2021–22 to 2025–26), including an additional allocation of Rs. 1,920 crore to support new and existing projects.
Key Points
- Scheme Objective: Modernize infrastructure, reduce post-harvest losses, and strengthen food safety under the Ministry of Food Processing Industries.
- Key Components Funded:
- Rs. 1,000 crore for 50 Multi-Product Food Irradiation Units (under ICCVAI), 100 NABL-accredited Food Testing Laboratories (under FSQAI) and Rs. 920 crore for other PMKSY components through Expression of Interest (EOI)-based selection.
- Irradiation Units Impact: Expected preservation capacity of 20–30 LMT/year.
- Food Testing Labs: Strengthen quality assurance and food safety.
- Demand-Driven Approach: Projects will be selected based on eligibility norms via EOIs, ensuring transparency and competitiveness.
