Vice Admiral CR Praveen Nair Appointed Navy’s CPS

On 31st July 2025, Vice Admiral CR Praveen Nair, AVSM, NM, took charge as the Controller Personnel Services (CPS) of the Indian Navy and paid homage at the National War Memorial in New Delhi to honour India’s fallen soldiers.

  • Commissioned into the Indian Navy on July 1, 1991, Vice Admiral Nair is a Communications and Electronic Warfare specialist with over three decades of distinguished service.
  • As a Surface Warfare Officer, he served aboard key naval platforms such as INS Krishna, INS Kora, and INS Mysore, and held critical roles including Fleet Electronic Warfare Officer and Fleet Communications Officer of the Western Fleet.
  • He was commended by the Chief of Naval Staff for his role in the 2006 evacuation of Indian nationals from Beirut during the Israel-Lebanon conflict.
  • Vice Admiral Nair has commanded multiple frontline warships, including the missile corvette INS Kirch, the guided missile destroyer INS Chennai, and the aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya.
