UMEED Portal Module for Vulnerable Groups
- 28 Aug 2025
On 27th August 2025, the Ministry of Minority Affairs launched a new module on the UMEED Portal to provide widows, divorced women, and orphans with easier access to maintenance support from Waqf-alal-aulad properties.
- The new module has been introduced under the Unified Waqf Management, Empowerment, Efficiency and Development (UMEED) Rules, 2025, with the specific aim of providing financial support to vulnerable groups within minority communities.
- Beneficiaries will be verified through Aadhaar-based authentication, ensuring transparency and accuracy in identifying eligible applicants.
- The system enables online applications and approvals to be processed through respective State and Union Territory Waqf Boards, making the process faster and less cumbersome.
- Payments to the beneficiaries will be transferred directly into their bank accounts, reducing delays and eliminating intermediary involvement.
