Bihar Launches Women Employment Scheme
- 30 Aug 2025
On 29th August 2025, the Bihar government approved the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana, a flagship initiative designed to empower women in Bihar through financial assistance and promote self-reliance.
- The scheme provides an initial aid of ₹10,000 to one woman from each family in the state to start an income-generating activity of her choice.
- Applications for the scheme will be invited soon, and the government has announced that direct benefit transfers into beneficiaries’ accounts will begin in September 2025.
- After six months of starting their enterprise, women beneficiaries will undergo an assessment process, and based on the outcome, they may qualify for additional financial support of up to ₹2 lakh.
- To assist women entrepreneurs in marketing their products, the government plans to set up haat bazaars in villages, towns, and cities, creating structured platforms for trade and visibility.
