Bihar Launches Women Employment Scheme

On 29th August 2025, the Bihar government approved the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana, a flagship initiative designed to empower women in Bihar through financial assistance and promote self-reliance.

The scheme provides an initial aid of ₹10,000 to one woman from each family in the state to start an income-generating activity of her choice.
Applications for the scheme will be invited soon, and the government has announced that direct benefit transfers into beneficiaries’ accounts will begin in September 2025.
After six months of starting their enterprise, women beneficiaries will undergo an assessment process, and based on the outcome, they may qualify for additional financial support of up to ₹2 lakh.
To assist women entrepreneurs in marketing their products, the government plans to set up haat bazaars in villages, towns, and cities, creating structured platforms for trade and visibility.
