On 1st September 2025, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) leaders’ summit in Tianjin adopted a joint declaration addressing terrorism, sovereignty, and global conflicts.

Strong Stance on Terrorism: The declaration condemned the April 22 Pahalgam terrorist attack in India, expressing condolences to victims and urging justice for perpetrators, organizers, and sponsors.
Unified Condemnation: Member States strongly opposed terrorism in all forms, rejected double standards, and called for global cooperation against cross-border terrorist movements.
Sovereignty and Territorial Integrity: The declaration emphasized respect for states’ independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity — significant given India-China border tensions.
