- 03 Sep 2025
On 2nd September 2025, Prime Minister inaugurated Semicon India 2025 at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi, marking a landmark step in India’s journey to becoming a global semiconductor powerhouse.
- The three-day conference has drawn more than 20,000 participants, including global chipmaking CEOs, policymakers, innovators, and students, with delegates from over 40 countries.
- PM highlighted that the global semiconductor community’s presence reflected trust in India and readiness to build the semiconductor future with India at the centre.
- He underscored India’s strong economic momentum, noting a 7.8% GDP growth in the April–June quarter, which strengthens confidence in India’s rise as the world’s third-largest economy.
- Emphasising semiconductors as “digital diamonds,” the Prime Minister said chips will define the 21st century, with the global market projected to cross $1 trillion, and India determined to secure a significant share.
- The Semicon India programme, launched in 2021, has already attracted $18 billion in investments, with projects by CG Power, Kaynes, Micron, and Tata moving forward, and multiple fabs receiving approvals.
