Assam Mourns Legendary Singer Zubeen Garg

On 22nd September 2025, Assam bid farewell to music icon Zubeen Garg, whose last rites are scheduled at Sonapur on the outskirts of Guwahati following his tragic death in Singapore last Friday.

Over a million fans from across the Northeastern states and beyond have paid tribute to Zubeen Garg at the Arjun Bhogeswar Baruh Sports Complex in Guwahati, reflecting his immense popularity and cultural impact.
Zubeen Garg died in Singapore due to a drowning accident while attending the North East Festival, where he was scheduled to perform as part of his cultural engagements.
He rose to national prominence with the Bollywood song “Ya Ali” from the 2006 film Gangster, which showcased his exceptional musical talent to a wider audience.
Throughout his career, Zubeen Garg recorded over 38,000 songs in 40 different languages, establishing himself as a versatile singer, lyricist, musician, film-maker, and actor.
