Operation HAECHI-VI
- 08 Oct 2025
On 8th October 2025, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested eight accused and identified 45 suspects under Operation HAECHI-VI, an Interpol-led effort targeting transnational cyber-enabled financial crimes.
- Operation HAECHI-VI focused on seven categories of offences, including cyber-enabled financial crime, voice phishing, romance scams, online sextortion, investment fraud, money laundering linked to illegal online gambling, business email compromise, and e-commerce fraud.
- The CBI coordinated closely with international agencies, including the FBI, the U.S. Department of Justice, and German authorities, to identify and apprehend offenders involved in cyber-enabled crimes and sexual offences against minors.
- The operation dismantled networks of cyber-enabled financial crimes run through illegal call centres in Delhi and Amritsar, which targeted U.S. nationals under the pretense of technical support services.
