Google to Build $15 Billion AI Hub in Visakhapatnam

On 14th October 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed Google’s announcement to establish a gigawatt-scale Artificial Intelligence (AI) data centre in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, calling it a transformative leap for India’s digital economy and technological leadership.

  • The announcement was made during Google’s ‘Bharat AI Shakti’ event in New Delhi, where Google CEO Sundar Pichai unveiled the company’s first-ever AI hub in India, designed to accelerate innovation and expand the nation’s AI ecosystem.
  • The Visakhapatnam AI Hub represents Google’s largest investment outside the United States, with a commitment of USD 15 billion (approximately ₹80,000 crore) over five years, and will integrate gigawatt-scale data centre infrastructure and a new international subsea gateway.
