India, Nepal Sign Power Transmission Agreements

On 29th October 2025, India and Nepal took a major step toward deepening their energy cooperation by signing agreements to develop new cross-border power transmission lines that will enhance electricity trade and regional grid stability.

- Major Transmission Projects Announced: Two key projects were approved under the agreement — the Inaruwa (Nepal)–New Purnea (India) 400 kV Double Circuit line and the Lamki (Dododhara) (Nepal)–Bareilly (India) 400 kV Double Circuit line.
- Boost to Cross-Border Electricity Trade: These high-capacity transmission corridors will significantly increase electricity exchange between the two nations, supporting mutual energy needs and ensuring stable power supply across borders.
