UGC Calls for Timely Exams and Degrees

On 27th November 2025, the University Grants Commission (UGC) directed all Higher Education Institutions to ensure timely examinations and prompt issuance of final degrees and certificates to prevent loss of opportunities for students.

The UGC emphasized that delays in conducting examinations or issuing degrees adversely affect students by limiting their chances to secure suitable and quality employment opportunities.
The Commission reiterated that students have a right to timely exams and result declarations, as outlined in the academic calendar published in each institution’s Prospectus.
It stressed that institutions must strictly adhere to the academic timelines to maintain transparency, predictability, and fairness in the higher education process.
The UGC stated that students are entitled to receive their final degree or certificate within 180 days from the date of the declaration of their results.
