IIT Bombay Launches Deep Tech VC Fund

On 9th December 2025, IIT Bombay’s Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SINE) launched India’s first incubator-linked deep tech venture capital fund, called the Y-Point Venture Capital Fund, with a ₹250-crore corpus to support early-stage deep tech startups.
- The Y-Point Venture Capital Fund becomes India’s first venture fund directly linked to an academic incubator, marking a major milestone in strengthening the country’s deep tech innovation ecosystem.
- The fund has a total corpus of ₹250 crore, which will be deployed to provide crucial early-stage risk capital to technology-intensive startups that often struggle to secure financial backing in their initial phases.
- IIT Bombay announced that the fund will focus primarily on pre-seed and seed-stage companies, especially those emerging from IIT Bombay and other leading research and innovation-driven institutions across India.
- The venture fund will prioritise high-impact sectors including artificial intelligence, advanced computing, manufacturing technologies, new materials, space technology, defence technology, nuclear technology, climate solutions and healthcare innovation.
