Centre Approves 22 Projects Under ECMS

On 2nd January 2026, the Centre has approved 22 new proposals under the third tranche of the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme, involving a projected investment of ₹41,863 crore, to strengthen India’s electronics manufacturing ecosystem.

- Project Approvals: The government has cleared 22 proposals covering the manufacturing of 11 target-segment products, including mobile manufacturing, telecom, consumer electronics, strategic electronics, automotive electronics, and IT hardware.
- Investment Size: The approved projects involve a cumulative projected investment of ₹41,863 crore.
- Production and Jobs: These projects are expected to generate ₹2.58 lakh crore worth of production and create around 34,000 direct jobs.
- Quality and Local Sourcing: Industry players were advised to focus on local sourcing and maintain high-quality standards to remain globally competitive.
- Semiconductor Milestone: Describing 2026 as a landmark year, the minister announced that four semiconductor units are set to begin commercial production during the year.
