Suresh Kalmadi

On 6th January 2026, former Union Minister Suresh Kalmadi passed away in Pune at the age of 82 after a prolonged illness.

He was a senior politician from Pune and represented the city multiple times in Parliament during his long political career.
Mr. Kalmadi served as President of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), playing a prominent role in Indian sports administration.
During the tenure of former Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao, he served as Minister of State for Railways.
