World Hindi Day

On 10th January 2026, World Hindi Day is being observed with the objective of promoting the use of the Hindi language at the global level, including in diplomacy, education and cultural exchange.

  • The day marks the First World Hindi Conference, held on 10 January 2006 in Nagpur, after which January 10 has been observed annually as World Hindi Day.
  • The Ministry of External Affairs and Indian Missions abroad commemorate the day every year through special programmes and cultural events.
  • Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh said language keeps culture alive and emphasised spreading India’s rich cultural heritage through Hindi.
