Prashant Tamang

On 11th January 2026, Prashant Tamang, winner of Indian Idol Season 3 and actor known for his role in Paatal Lok Season 2, passed away following a cardiac arrest. He was 43 years old.

Born on January 4, 1983, in Darjeeling to a Nepali-speaking Gorkha family, Tamang’s father served in the West Bengal Police and died while in service, after which Tamang briefly took up the job before pursuing music.
He rose to national fame after winning Indian Idol 3 in 2007, triggering massive celebrations across Darjeeling hills, Sikkim, and parts of Nepal.
