On 12th January, Union Home Minister Amit Shah paid tributes to Swami Vivekananda and Rajmata Jijabai on their birth anniversaries.

  • Swami Vivekananda, born on January 12, 1863, as Narendranath Dutta in Kolkata, is commemorated nationwide through National Youth Day.
  • Through the Ramakrishna Mission, Vivekananda institutionalised social service and inspired youth with values of duty, patriotism and perseverance, contributing to the vision of a developed India.
  • Paying homage to Rajmata Jijabai, Union Home Minister said she played a decisive role in shaping Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj by instilling values of courage, self-respect and cultural pride from an early age.
