Centre Asks NSFs to Set Up International Relations Committee

On 12th January 2026, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has advised all recognised National Sports Federations (NSFs) to constitute dedicated committees on International Relations and Make in India in Sports within their respective organisations.
Key Points:
- International Relations Committee – Role: To track developments in relevant International Federations, including changes in competition rules, governance frameworks, election processes, and athlete-centric programmes.
- International Alignment: The Committee will ensure international engagements align with government policy, the Olympic Charter, and principles of good governance, anti-doping compliance, and athlete safeguarding.
- Committee Composition (International Relations): Senior Federation officials, former international athletes, coaches, and subject experts with experience in global sports administration and diplomacy.
- Make in India in Sports Committee – Role: To engage with Indian manufacturers, start-ups, research institutions, and testing and standardisation bodies for product development, trials, certification, and adoption in sports.
- Domestic Manufacturing Push: The Committee will promote the indigenous sports goods and equipment ecosystem envisioned under Make in India.
- Committee Composition (Make in India): Senior Federation members, technical experts, former international athletes, and at least one member with experience in sports equipment or sports technology.
- Significance: The constitution of these committees will strengthen the country’s global sporting engagement and sports diplomacy while promoting indigenous capabilities in sports in line with Atmanirbhar Bharat.
