Delhi Launches ‘Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana’

On 10th February 2026, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced the launch of the ‘Delhi Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana’, an upgraded version of the 2008 Ladli Scheme, aimed at ensuring financial security and uninterrupted education for girls from economically weaker families.

  • The scheme provides financial assistance of up to ₹56,000 per beneficiary, deposited in phased instalments from birth through key educational milestones up to graduation or diploma-level studies.
  • The accumulated amount will be invested through structured financial instruments and released into the beneficiary’s Aadhaar-linked bank account upon maturity, potentially growing to over ₹1 lakh with interest.
  • Eligibility includes girls born in Delhi, with families residing in the city for at least three years and having an annual income not exceeding ₹1.20 lakh. Benefits are limited to two surviving girl children per family.
  • Registration can be done within one year of birth or at later stages such as admission to Class I, VI, IX, XI, or higher education.
