In February 2026, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced that the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system will be implemented for evaluating Class 12 answer sheets starting with the 2026 board examinations, commencing from February 17.

• CBSE Examination Controller said the move is part of the board’s continuous efforts to modernise the evaluation process and ensure greater accuracy and accountability.
• Evaluation of Class 10 answer books will continue in physical mode for now, with no change in the existing system.
• The board has also introduced a second board examination for Class 10 students from this year; the additional exam will be optional for those wishing to improve their scores.
