On 18th February 2026, at the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, Google announced a $15 billion investment over five years to strengthen digital and AI connectivity between India and the United States.

Under the “America–India Connect” initiative, a new international subsea cable gateway will be established in Visakhapatnam (Vizag).
Three new subsea cable routes will connect India to Singapore, South Africa and Australia.
Four additional strategic fibre-optic routes will be developed to enhance high-capacity digital infrastructure.
The project aims to boost AI connectivity between India, the US and multiple locations across the southern hemisphere.
