On 28th February 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Semiconductor Assembly, Test and Packaging (ATMP) facility of Micron Semiconductor Technology India Private Limited in Sanand.

  • The project is the first proposal approved under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM).
  • The facility has been developed with a total investment of over ₹22,500 crore.
  • Commercial production and shipment of the first made-in-India semiconductor memory modules have commenced from the plant.
  • The project’s ground-breaking ceremony was held in September 2023.
  • Once fully operational, the facility will have around 500,000 square feet of cleanroom space, making it one of the world’s largest raised-floor cleanrooms.
  • The plant will convert advanced DRAM and NAND wafers sourced from Micron’s global network into finished memory and storage products.
  • It will cater to global demand for memory solutions, especially in Artificial Intelligence and high-performance computing.
