H. K. Dua

On 4th March 2026, veteran journalist and former Rajya Sabha MP H. K. Dua passed away at the age of 88 after a brief illness.

  • He served as Editor of Hindustan Times (1987-1994), Editor-in-Chief of The Indian Express (1994-1996), and Editor of The Tribune (2003-2009).
  • He also served as Editorial Adviser to The Times of India from 1997 to 1998.
  • Dua worked as media adviser to former Prime Ministers Atal Bihari Vajpayee and H. D. Deve Gowda.
  • He served as India’s Ambassador to Denmark from 2001 to 2003.
  • In 2009, he was nominated to the Rajya Sabha and served until 2015.
  • A recipient of the Padma Bhushan, he was widely respected for his commitment to editorial independence and democratic values.
  • He was twice elected President of the Editors Guild of India.
