Army Flags Off ‘Samudra Sahas’ Sailing Expedition

On 13th April 2026, the Indian Army flagged off its first blue-water sailing expedition, Samudra Sahas, from Marve in Mumbai as part of the Regiment of Artillery’s bicentenary celebrations.

  • The 520 nautical mile expedition will be conducted along the Konkan coast in four legs from Mumbai to Vijaydurg, Goa and back.
  • The team will sail using 21-foot Seabird class boats, navigating varying wind conditions about 7 nautical miles off the coast.
  • The expedition is led by Kshitij Nair and Prakash Funde, with support from Vardhan Shidhye.
  • It aims to promote endurance, teamwork, and leadership among participants.
  • The mission is supported by the Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard.
