PM Launches ₹6,350 Crore Projects in Varanasi

On 28th April 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth around ₹6,350 crore in Varanasi during a Mahila Sammelan.
- The projects span healthcare, tourism, connectivity, urban infrastructure, and regional development.
- The Prime Minister strongly emphasised women’s empowerment as central to the vision of Viksit Bharat.
- He sought public support for implementing women’s reservation in the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies.
- Welfare initiatives highlighted included housing, sanitation, bank accounts, electricity, tap water, and self-help group expansion.
- PM Modi noted that nearly 10 crore women are linked to self-help groups, with 3 crore becoming “Lakhpati Didis.”
- Major healthcare infrastructure includes a 500-bed super speciality hospital and a 100-bed critical care block.
- Connectivity projects included flagging off two Amrit Bharat Express trains linking Varanasi with Pune and Ayodhya with Mumbai.
