IPC Signs MoUs with State Pharmacy Councils

On 12th May 2026, the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the State Pharmacy Councils of Bihar, Maharashtra and Mizoram at its headquarters in Ghaziabad.

  • The agreements aim to strengthen medicine safety, promote rational use of medicines and enhance pharmacovigilance activities across India.
  • The collaboration seeks to improve dissemination and adoption of the National Formulary of India among registered pharmacists for safe and evidence-based medicine use.
  • The initiative also aims to establish the National Formulary of India as a mandatory reference document in hospital pharmacies.
  • The partnership will strengthen the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India by promoting adverse drug reaction reporting and establishing ADR Monitoring Centres.
  • The move is expected to improve medicine safety surveillance and increase participation of pharmacists and healthcare professionals in pharmacovigilance activities.
  • The MoUs also include joint training programmes, workshops and continuing education initiatives on rational medicine use, pharmacovigilance and pharmacopoeial standards.
  • The collaboration will support research and professional cooperation in areas related to drug safety, regulatory standards and rational pharmacotherapy.
