‘Swadeshi’ Marketplace for Made-in-Bharat Products
- 13 May 2026
On 12th May 2026, the government-backed DigiHaat announced the launch of ‘Swadeshi’, a dedicated marketplace for promoting authentic “Made-in-Bharat” products and strengthening local production ecosystems.
- The initiative has been launched in line with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat through Swadeshi-driven commerce.
- Owned by the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), the platform enables consumers to directly purchase products from artisans, farmer groups, self-help groups, NGOs and Indian brands.
- The marketplace features Bharat-made products across categories such as food grains, seed products, apparel, handicrafts, home décor and bags.
- According to DigiHaat, over 2,000 artisans and more than 1,100 farmer groups from across India are already connected to the platform.
- The initiative aims to emerge as a national marketplace based on the principle of “Bharat Se, Bharat Tak”.
- In April 2026, DigiHaat also launched metro ticketing services in regions including Delhi-NCR, Mumbai and Bengaluru.
- The platform crossed 2 million downloads and built a community of over 30,000 users during the same month.
- DigiHaat also provides services such as food delivery, ride-hailing and e-commerce through partner networks including Bharat Taxi and Namma Yatri.
- DigiHaat operates as a wholly owned subsidiary within the ONDC ecosystem under Nirmit Bharat, a Section 8 not-for-profit entity.
