On 13th May 2026, the first instalment of ₹401.50 crore under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme for Development of Infrastructure Facilities was released for District and Subordinate Courts.

- Funds transferred through PFMS system to States and Union Territories.

- Strengthen infrastructure of district and subordinate courts.
- Improve accessibility and efficiency of justice delivery.
- Scheme Status:
- Current tenure ended on March 31, 2026.
- Proposal underway to extend scheme till 2030–31.
- Temporary extension granted till September 30, 2026.
- New Proposed Component:
- “Waiting Hall for Litigants” proposed under the scheme.
- Intended to improve citizen facilities in courts.
- Judicial Infrastructure Advisory Committee:
- Constituted by the Chief Justice of India on May 12, 2026.
- Aim: Develop unified judicial infrastructure ecosystem.
- Progress Under Scheme:
- ₹12,844.72 crore released since inception (1993–94).
- Over 73% released during last 12 years.
- Infrastructure Achievements:
- 6,345 court halls constructed.
- 4,023 residential units completed.
- Thousands more under construction.
