On 26th June 2026, India launched Operation Amistad, a Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) mission, in response to the devastating earthquakes in Venezuela.

  • •The operation was launched as a gesture of solidarity with the people of Venezuela following extensive loss of life, injuries, and widespread destruction.
  • •As part of the mission, two Indian Air Force C-17 Globemaster aircraft departed for Venezuela carrying humanitarian relief supplies and a 41-member rescue team.
  • •Venezuela is a country located at the northern tip of South America, bordered by the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean to the north, Guyana to the east, Brazil to the south, and Colombia to the west.
  • •Caracas, the national capital of Venezuela, is the country's principal centre of industry, commerce, education, and tourism.
