Cabinet Approves 12 Major Development Proposals

On 1st July 2026, the Odisha Cabinet, at its 43rd meeting, approved 12 major development proposals covering fisheries, aquaculture, digital infrastructure, roads, water resources, power, and education.

• The Cabinet approved a comprehensive regulatory framework and operational guidelines to promote white-leg shrimp farming in inland saline waters, brackish waters, and areas beyond the jurisdiction of the Coastal Aquaculture Authority (CAA).
• The permissible shrimp cultivation zone has been extended from 2 km to 10 km beyond the High Tide Line (HTL).
• The initiative aims to increase shrimp production from 1.6 lakh tonnes to 9 lakh tonnes annually, expand cultivation by 25,000 hectares, and boost seafood exports to ₹25,000 crore by 2036.
