India, Japan Announce 16 Key Outcomes

During the 3-day Official Visit of Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, India and Japan announced 16 key outcomes on 2nd July 2026 during the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit to deepen strategic, economic and technology cooperation.

  • Economic Security: Adopted a Joint Declaration to strengthen cooperation in semiconductors, critical minerals, AI, clean energy, pharmaceuticals and resilient supply chains.
  • Artificial Intelligence: Signed AI agreements to promote joint research, policy exchanges, business collaboration, computing infrastructure and responsible, human-centric artificial intelligence.
  • Energy & Green Growth: Agreed to strengthen strategic petroleum reserves, maritime energy transport, battery supply chains and establish 1,000 cooperative biogas plants.
  • Science & Mobility: Expanded cooperation in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, critical minerals, mobility, railways, shipbuilding, logistics, deep-tech research and large language models.
  • Digital & Financial Cooperation: Signed agreements on cybersecurity, internet governance, IPv6 adoption, financial regulation, FinTech, RegTech and institutional collaboration.
