National Broadcasting Day 2026

On 23rd July 2026, National Broadcasting Day is being observed to commemorate the first radio broadcast in India, which began from the Bombay Station under the Indian Broadcasting Company (IBC) on 23rd July 1927.

• On 8th June 1936, the Indian State Broadcasting Service (ISBS) was renamed All India Radio (AIR).
• In 1956, All India Radio adopted the name Akashvani.
• The Vividh Bharati Service was launched in 1957, with film music as its primary content.
