16th BRICS Health Ministers' Meeting Concludes

On 23rd July 2026, the 16th BRICS Health Ministers' Meeting concluded in Chandigarh under India's BRICS Chairship 2026, with the adoption of the 16th BRICS Health Ministerial Declaration to strengthen cooperation on public health and resilient healthcare systems.

• The meeting was held under India's BRICS Chairship theme: "Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability."
• BRICS countries unanimously adopted the 16th BRICS Health Ministerial Declaration, reaffirming cooperation on Universal Health Coverage (UHC), pandemic preparedness, digital health, mental health, traditional medicine, and equitable access to medicines and vaccines.
• The meeting endorsed the establishment of a Sub-Working Group on the BRICS Integrated Early Warning System for Prevention and Response to Mass Infectious Diseases.
