DAANVEER Initiative Launched

On 29th July 2026, the Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR) launched the DAANVEER initiative to strengthen the digital infrastructure of Gram Panchayats through voluntary citizen contributions.

- About the Initiative: DAANVEER is a citizen participation platform that enables individuals and organisations to voluntarily contribute computers to eligible Gram Panchayats, helping bridge the digital infrastructure gap at the grassroots.
- Implementing Agencies: The initiative has been launched by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and DigiHaat.
- Objective: The initiative aims to digitally empower Gram Panchayats, improve service delivery, enhance transparency and strengthen local self-governance under the vision of Digital India and Viksit Bharat.
- Platform: DAANVEER is available through the Meri Panchayat mobile application, which is integrated with the DigiHaat marketplace.
- Key Features: Donors can contribute pre-approved, quality-verified computer bundles, track deliveries digitally, and receive a digital certificate of appreciation upon successful installation.
- Target Beneficiaries: The initiative supports nearly 2.5 lakh Gram Panchayats across India and also enables members of the Indian diaspora to contribute to the development of their native villages.
