India, Uzbekistan Deepen Strategic Partnership

On 3rd August 2026, India and Uzbekistan agreed to strengthen their strategic partnership by expanding cooperation in critical minerals, trade, energy, defence, infrastructure and education during high-level talks in New Delhi.

Expanded Cooperation: Both countries agreed to enhance collaboration in critical minerals, rare earths, mining, trade, energy, infrastructure, defence, education and culture.
Trade: Bilateral trade has reached nearly USD 1 billion, with both sides aiming to significantly expand economic engagement.
Security Cooperation: India and Uzbekistan reaffirmed their shared commitment to zero tolerance towards terrorism, including cross-border terrorism, extremism and drug trafficking.
Multilateral Support: Uzbekistan supported India's initiatives during its BRICS Presidency 2026, while India backed Uzbekistan’s candidature to chair the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) for 2027–2029.
