Incentive Scheme for Promotion of Domestic PNG Connections

On 18th August 2026, the Government approved an Incentive Scheme for Promotion of Domestic PNG Connections to accelerate the expansion of clean, safe and affordable piped cooking gas connections across India.

  • Scheme Objective: The scheme aims to increase active domestic PNG connections and expand the PNG network to new areas.
  • Effective Date: The scheme will come into effect from 1 September 2026.
  • Existing Connections: India currently has around 1.74 crore domestic PNG connections.
  • CGD Companies: City Gas Distribution (CGD) companies will receive incentives for converting unbilled connections into active, billed connections.
