GeM–Textiles Committee MoU for Circular Textiles

On 3rd September 2026, Government e Marketplace (GeM) and the Textiles Committee (TC), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India signed an MoU to promote recycled textile products.
- The initiative aims to create a ‘Waste-to-Value-to-Market’ ecosystem for textile waste.
- Recycled and upcycled products will be made available to government buyers through GeM.
- The Textiles Committee will identify, verify and certify eligible producers.
- GeM will create dedicated categories for recycled and upcycled textile products.
- Training and handholding will help small recyclers access government procurement.
- The initiative follows a hub-and-spoke model for outreach and capacity building.
