EOS-05 Earth Observation Satellite Launched

On 4th September 2026, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched its advanced Earth observation satellite EOS-05 aboard Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV-F17) from Satish Dhawan Space Centre, marking India’s first imaging satellite intended for geosynchronous orbit.

- Launch Vehicle: GSLV-F17 successfully carried the 2,367 kg EOS-05 spacecraft.
- Orbit: EOS-05 is designed for placement in a Sub-Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit before reaching its operational orbit.
- Geosynchronous Orbit: The satellite will operate at roughly 36,000 km altitude and match Earth’s rotational speed.
