India-Sri Lanka Maritime Exercise 'SLINEX-26'

From September 17 to 21, 2026, the 13th edition of the bilateral maritime exercise 'SLINEX-26' between India and Sri Lanka is being held in Visakhapatnam. The exercise is structured into a harbor phase and a sea phase.

Key Highlights

• Indian Participation: Indigenous anti-submarine warfare corvette INS Kavaratti and fleet tanker INS Jyoti are participating on behalf of the Indian Navy.
• Sri Lankan Participation: The Sri Lanka Navy is represented by SLNS Sindurala.
• Harbor Phase: Included professional interactions, cross-deck visits, exchange of best practices, yoga, sports, and cultural activities.
• Sea Phase: Both navies will exercise to enhance operational coordination and interoperability through joint maritime operations.
• Inception: The India-Sri Lanka bilateral naval exercise SLINEX commenced in 2005 and has become a vital platform for regular maritime cooperation between the two navies.
• MAHASAGAR Vision: The exercise aligns with India's 'MAHASAGAR' (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions) vision, underscoring commitment to a safe, secure, stable, and inclusive maritime region.
