National Agriculture Conference – Rabi Campaign 2026 Launched

On 28 September 2026, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan inaugurated the two-day ‘National Agriculture Conference – Rabi Campaign 2026’ in New Delhi.

Key Facts

Objective: To prepare climate-resilient and outcome-based strategies through Centre-State coordination for increasing Rabi production, productivity, and farmers’ income.
Water Budget: States have been asked to assess water availability and soil moisture and prepare crop and irrigation plans accordingly.
Pulses & Oilseeds: Emphasis on expanding low-water pulses and oilseed crops in areas left fallow after paddy, and on state-wise plans for gram, lentil, mustard, etc.
Procurement System: Stress on arranging direct procurement through central nodal agencies like NAFED and NCCF if states fail to procure on time.
‘Khet Bachao’ Campaign: Call to run the ‘Khet Bachao Campaign’ for balanced fertiliser use in Rabi as well, and to maintain soil productivity.
Agriculture: Emphasis on expanding the coverage of Kisan Credit Cards along with accelerating work on Farmer ID and AgriStack.
