CBSE Introduces Two-Term Class 10 Exams from Next Year

On 25th June 2025, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced a new two-term examination structure for Class 10 board exams, starting from the 2026 academic session.
Key Points
- Two-Term Exams: The first exam will be held in February and is compulsory for all students. The second exam in May will be optional, aimed at students wishing to improve their scores.
- Improvement Option: Students who pass will be allowed to improve their performance in up to three subjects, including Science, Mathematics, Social Science, and languages.
- Result Timeline: Results for the two exams will be declared in April and June, respectively.
- Policy Alignment: The move is in line with the National Education Policy, 2020, which recommends student-centric reforms such as twice-a-year exams, providing a second chance within the same academic year.
- Global Alignment: The reform brings India’s assessment framework closer to global education practices, promoting a more joyful and less stressful learning environment.
