Cabinet Approves PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana

On 16th July 2025, the Union Cabinet approved the Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY) to enhance agricultural productivity and promote sustainable practices nationwide.
Key Points
- Scheme Overview: PMDDKY merges 36 schemes across 11 Ministries and Departments with an annual outlay of Rs. 24,000 crore for six years starting 2025–26.
 - Beneficiaries: The scheme aims to benefit 1.7 crore farmers.
 - Key Objectives: It focuses on improving irrigation, post-harvest storage, and access to both long- and short-term agricultural credit.
 - District Targeting: 100 districts will be selected based on low productivity, cropping intensity, and credit disbursement, with at least one district from each State/UT.
 - Implementation Model: Inspired by the Aspirational Districts Programme, the scheme will be implemented through convergence of central, state and private initiatives.
 - Planning & Monitoring: District-level Dhan Dhaanya Samitis will include progressive farmers and will prepare local agriculture plans aligned with national goals.
 - Monitoring Frequency: Scheme progress will be tracked monthly at national, state and district levels.
 - Expected Outcomes: Higher productivity, improved value chains, local livelihood creation, and greater self-reliance in agriculture and allied sectors.
