- 22 Jul 2025

On 21st July 2025, Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) launched the eighth and final Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW-SWC), named Ajay, at a ceremony held in Kolkata.
Key Points
- Completion of ASW Series: GRSE has built all eight shallow water crafts under the ASW-SWC project for the Indian Navy, with INS Arnala being the first, commissioned earlier in Vizag.
 - Versatile Operational Capability: These crafts are 77.6 metres long and 10.5 metres wide, designed with low draughts for coastal operations, including anti-submarine warfare, mine laying, and low-intensity maritime missions.
 - Advanced Warfare Features: The ships come equipped with a lethal anti-submarine suite—lightweight torpedoes, ASW rockets, and sea mines—and are capable of coordinated ASW operations with aircraft.
 - Enhanced Surveillance Ability: These platforms are tailored for full-scale sub-surface surveillance and operations against surface platforms in shallow coastal waters.
