Lord Swraj Paul Passes Away in London

On 22nd August 2025, leading NRI industrialist and philanthropist Lord Swraj Paul, founder of the UK-based Caparo Group of Industries, passed away in London at the age of 94 after a brief illness.

Lord Swraj Paul, born in Jalandhar, India, moved to the UK in the 1960s when his daughter Ambika was diagnosed with cancer, a personal tragedy that deeply influenced his later philanthropic work.
He was a life peer in the UK House of Lords and despite his advanced age and declining health, he remained active and regularly attended parliamentary sessions until recent months.
As founder of the Caparo Group, headquartered in London, he oversaw the growth of the steel and engineering multinational, which expanded operations to more than 40 sites across the UK, North America, India, and the Middle East.
