Ayurveda Day to Be Marked on 23rd September
- 27 Aug 2025
On 26th August 2025, the government announced that Ayurveda Day will now be observed annually on 23rd September, replacing the earlier practice of celebrating it on Dhanvantari Jayanti, giving the traditional health system a fixed place on the global calendar for the first time.
- The Ministry of Ayush confirmed that the decision, notified in March 2025, will standardise the observance of Ayurveda Day worldwide, ending the shifting schedule linked to the lunar calendar.
- Union Minister of State for Ayush (Independent Charge) Prataprao Jadhav declared the 2025 theme as “Ayurveda for People & Planet”, emphasising Ayurveda’s role as a life science promoting harmony between individuals and the environment.
- The 2024 Ayurveda Day was a milestone event where Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Phase II of the All India Institute of Ayurveda in Delhi, launched four Centres of Excellence, and unveiled the “Desh Ka Prakriti Parikshan Abhiyan” campaign along with projects worth Rs. 12,850 crore.
