ZAPAD 2025 Exercise

On 9th September 2025, an Indian Armed Forces contingent departed for Russia to participate in the multilateral joint military exercise ZAPAD 2025, scheduled to take place at the Mulino Training Ground in Nizhniy from September 10 to 16.

  • The Indian contingent comprises 65 personnel, including 57 from the Indian Army, seven from the Indian Air Force, and one from the Indian Navy, reflecting the tri-service participation in the exercise.
  • The Army team is led by a battalion of the KUMAON Regiment, which is supported by troops from other arms and services to ensure comprehensive operational readiness.
  • Exercise ZAPAD 2025 has been designed to strengthen military cooperation, coordination, and interoperability among all participating nations by fostering shared understanding and joint training.
