Andrzej Bargiel

On 24th September 2025, Polish climber Andrzej Bargiel became the first person to ski down Mount Everest without supplemental oxygen.

Bargiel, 37, is known for extreme skiing feats and was the first to ski down K2 in 2018.
His Everest climb to the 8,849m summit took longer than planned due to heavy snow.
He spent 16 hours in the “death zone” (above 8,000m) without oxygen.
Bargiel spent only a few minutes at the summit before beginning his ski descent.
A video on his Facebook showed him skiing down thick snow against the Himalayan peaks.
He paused overnight at Camp 2 (6,400m) due to darkness, resuming descent at sunrise.
